Artificial Intelligence is the most defining technology trend of our time. Hardly any area of business remains untouched by it; however, with its rapid spread, it is not just efficiency gains that are growing, but also new dependencies: regarding models, data, and infrastructures. Who controls the underlying models? Where is the data located? What regulatory, economic, and geopolitical risks arise from this? The example of Generative AI shows that the digital sovereignty of European companies is not a matter of location, but a matter of control.
