The Wissensforum is the central platform for the entire vocational training program offered by the Association of German Engineers (VDI). To provide site visitors with an informative and clear overview of the association's roughly 1,000 annual events: seminars, training courses, conferences, internal company programs, E-learning opportunities, etc., the VDI decided to migrate its platform to the Open Source Web Content Management System TYPO3. Concept and design for the new portal was entrusted to King Media; AOE was responsible for the technical implementation.
The new Wissensforum (knowledge forum) web platform also offers comprehensive options for viewing and managing the entire range of VDI's extensive vocational training program. The portal enables a user to find all available events relating to a particular topic via an integrated search engine. In addition, the various seminar agendas can be saved as a PDF file; address and driving directions of the event venue can be printed out or saved. An integrated registration module completes the offer. A particular highlight: VDI employees can easily and at any time upload, edit or remove events within the comprehensive TYPO3 information calendar by using standard MS Excel files.
