The first step is always the most important: Your initiative. If you are interested in working at AOE, we gladly welcome your application with CV and references. You have questions in advance. No problem, call us, we will be happy to answer your questions and support you wherever we can. Generally, our application process is as follows:
Once we’ve received your application documents, they are evaluated by our recruitment team. As a rule, you will receive a response within two weeks. Sometimes it takes a little longer, for example, when internal coordination is required. If the first impression is positive, we will often make a first informal telephone call. This initial conversation serves to clarify simple and uncomplicated questions as well as basic information and is very relaxed, without a predefined structure or the typical recruiting questions. So never fear: As in all things, we’re quite uncomplicated here.
If your application leaves a positive first impression, we will arrange a personal meeting in our office. At AOE, this meeting is more about becoming acquainted with each other, rather than a traditional recruiting conversation. We focus on your qualifications and personality, not on external appearance or pre-learned answers to typical recruiting questions. We want to get to know you as you are, so you don’t have to show up in a business suit or be wary of tricky questions.
After the first meeting, we will usually ask you for a work sample to verify your capabilities and qualifications and to check your practical work. We will give you a development task to solve. You can do this practical exercise without stress at home in your accustomed environment – there is no exam atmosphere, let alone an assessment center. If you are applying for a position as tester, you will receive an appropriate task; for Product Owner positions, we usually arrange a trial day.
If everything works out, you will get to know some members of your future team in another personal meeting – after all, both sides are curious and want to ensure a successful cooperation. As before, this conversation takes place in a relaxed atmosphere and dives a little deeper into specific questions about your future project. If the chemistry is right between you and the team, then working together is a mere formality.

We want you to make your entry as easy as possible. Therefore, a personal mentor will be assigned to you, who will get in touch with you before your first day of work and will accompany your start at AOE. After setting up your workplace – your PC is already waiting for you (complete with login data, E-Mail, etc.) – you will ge given a tour of the office, so that you can at least briefly meet all of your new colleagues, and they can get to know you a little bit. In our Weekly, you can introduce yourself. You will find all necessary information about your start at AOE on the corresponding Wiki page in our Extranet. If you have questions, your mentor will be happy to assist you. However, all other colleagues will also help you to become acclimated as quickly as possible at AOE. Finally, there is HR, which is always available for further questions.
